/signed cause i like to sign stuff.. I'd be happy with an 8 man zone town to travel to Elona once your off newbie island like Kodash.
I think Realm of Torment should also have a seperate zone option.
2 cents.
Although I do like the suggestion above me.

If this is to my idea, then what campaigns are owned doesn't really matter, afterall, EN and Prophecies share the same map and there are no issues with that.

Implementing new things, if I'm correct *I'm no expert on this*, only costs money when you need new software and programming. If the programming is the same (which, with my idea, it should be) then it shouldn't cost money. But ANet, as it stands, is still getting money from NCSoft, so that isn't an issue. Afaik at least.

Click the boat, click Battle Isles, Battle Isles map shown.

Click the Asura Gate, Tyrian map shown focused in the North.
That's all that is needed.

That can work too, but I just really want to see the actual distance between Tyria, Elona and Cantha (seeing how the current distance is a guess).
And I think your idea would be more work then putting the current maps together, filling in blank spots with color, then switching 4 maps with one. Yours would be changing the list in the boat travel, changing what the boat travel does, changing what the Vortex does, and changing what the Asura Gate does.
If ANet has a somewhat close Idea to what would belong in the blank spots for in between the 3 continents, my idea would be far from a problem (except for those with really bad connections, but with my idea, they would avoid the busy towns when possible).

Just have arrows available when you press m so you can switch map and just port to whatever you have unlocked. Of course they're not available till you've unlocked travel to that campaign.

My thoughts exactly. Of course, having everything as the same map would be even nicer. Perhaps we could take a leaf out of Blizzard's book (oh no, he's referenced WoW! Quick, flame him for wanting a free WoW!) and have a large map with a series of zoom levels, or even use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out of the map. Thus, all three continents and the battle isles can be incorporated into one map without becoming overwhelmingly large.
Unfortunately, this would probably be a very large overhaul of the system, so we can probably only hope that it will be incorporated into GW2.
The best we could hope for at this stage would be a dropdown district menu or even something along the lines the quoted suggestion.
The ability to select district would help those with slower computers or those who dread the inevitable flood of chat (why I play with local chat *off*), so I shall /sign.

cross continental mapping should have been implemented the moment the asura gate came out, it should have been asura portal for all the old port towns and backpackman/theboat for everything else, imo.

Parties break when they get there.
They also break in Kamadan.
That's quite annoying.

Here's an idea, though: left click once to move out to the continent, then left click again to go to the world screen. Right click to zoom in.

I'm SO signing all suggestions that would make maptravel faster, with max 1 loading screen, and no party breaking in LA and Kamadan, but unfortunately:

I think she means they won't change the fact that you can instantly visit any town you want with your map, that is, if GW2 is more persistent than GW1 you still won't have to physically run yourself everywhere you want to go.
/sign for easier boat travel.

I had a hell of a time this festival. Kamadan had a load of more than 3 minutes once.
Why people should stop by towns they don't want to go and get their parties split?
If your party travels from an outpost with a party size of 8 to another outpost with a party size of 8, the party is not split... unless you travel to Tyria or Elona from other regions.
That's annoying.
